Moncler Gamme Rouge’s spring 18 show at Paris Fashion Week merged fancy footwork with fashion.
The Grand Palais in Paris was the venue for one of spring 2018’s highlights as Moncler Gamme Rouge collaborated with Hiplet –the Chicago based ballet company that sees ballerinas performing hip-hop dance moves en pointe. The company opened the show amid dozens of glittering disco balls to Ed Sheeran’s Shape of You and Missy Elliott’s Lose Control.

According to the brand, the collection is inspired by contemporary dance, hence Hiplet being a fitting addition to the show.
Designer Giambattista Valli carefully constructed a middle ground between hyper-femininity and sportswear by blending off-duty ballerinas and dancewear.

The hip-hop ballet dancers weaved in and out of the silver disco balls, followed by models in an array of tulle and lace in an ethereal colour palette. The layers of soft delicate fabrics – sheer tulle tutus and ostrich feathered slips– contrasted with grey sweatshirts and sportswear bomber jackets.
Leotards, tutus and leg warmers displayed a classic femininity in shades of soft pink and white. These were paired with grey sweatshirts and striped bomber jackets, adding a sportier edge.
